Vice President Mike Pence will deliver the commencement address next month at Hillsdale College, the influential conservative school announced Monday.
“We are proud to have Pence, a man of principled public service, of strong constitutional views, and of deep faith at our campus,” Hillsdale College President Larry P. Arnn said in a statement. “We are glad to have him back for this culminating ceremony of college life.”

Hillsdale, a private Christian liberal arts school in southern Michigan, enrolls about 1,400 students. But the school, which proudly rejects federal funding and the regulations that come along with it, plays an outsized role in conservative intellectual circles.
President Donald Trump’s National Security Council spokesman Michael Anton, for example, on Sunday announced he was leaving the administration for a role at Hillsdale College’s Kirby Center in Washington, D.C.
The school also made headlines last fall during the debate over the GOP tax bill Senate Democrats successfully defeated a last-minute provision that would have shielded the college from a new tax on university endowments.
Pence will speak to the graduating class of Hillsdale on May 12.
